คำอธิบายชิ้นเนื้อ
Candida species is naturally occurring dimorphic fungus (yeast) that is also normal flora in oropharynx and human skin. Cutaneous candidiasis is superficial infection of skin (usually in warm, moist areas of skin crease) and mucous membrane by Candida sp. most commonly Candida albicans. Candidiasis is one of the most common opportunistic infection affecting various organs in immunocompromised host such as HIV patient when CD4 level ranges 200-500 cells/uL as well as in elderly or diabetic patients. Skin manifestation of cutaneous candidiasis appears as superficial erythema patch with satellite papulopustules overlying white plague (intertrigo). Histopathology of this specimen shows H&E staining of Candida as non-septate hyphae (pseudohyphae) and yeast (A) infiltrating beneath superficial layer of skin.
