Heart-Myocardial infarction 2 This heart specimen shows left ventricle hypertrophy and presence of dark spot indicating hemorrhage and acute myocardial infarction. On the ventricular wall, a whitish area indicates previous infarction has occurred in this region of the heart. About 99% of infarctions are caused by thrombotic or embolic events.
