Penis Squamous cell carcinoma Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a type of cancer that arises from squamous cells. SCC of the penis has higher incidence in patients with poor hygiene, due to the tendency for HPV infection and high exposure to carcinogens concentrated in smegma. It can display in two patterns, papillary and flat. Thickening of prepuce (blue area) with of a cauliflower-like (fungating) mass are called papillary. This lesion contains hemorrhagic spot (A) and necrotic areas (yellow area) as indicated on the gross specimen.
